In Progress: Daily and Monthly Challenges, Week 5

Another week, more progress made.  It's actually been a fairly good week for many of my goals.  I've been keeping up the reading train and am, so far, at 21 books read this year.  I'm still relistening to the Guild Codex series for bedtime, but since I'm not counting those...

I did, however, finish listening to Whispers Underground and Broken Homes.  Now I'm waiting for Foxglove Summer to come in so I can listen to that next.  I also read and listened to Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire.  It was also one of my Friend Recommendation reads, so I'm making my way through that goal as well.  I finished all of the trade paperbacks of Undiscovered Country (which is through volume 5), and I've started on a series that's intrigued me for awhile, Locke & Key by Joe Hill.  I've finished the first three books and will probably dive into the fourth tonight.  The good thing with graphic novels is that they move quickly.

For writing, I've been somewhat successful.  I've written a few thought pieces, and yesterday I wrote some poetry.  Today, this counts as my writing so I'm still doing well.  I've been using an app called Habit Kit, which is a handy way for me to keep track of what habits I'm working toward.  It's free, and it lets me see at a glance how well I've done with my goals.  With my old-lady memory, it's easy to forget when I have and when I haven't done something, so looking back on it today, I'm able to see that I've actually written every day this week.  So go me!

Fast food has, once again, been a relatively easy one to avoid.  I fell a little on Monday, since I was out getting food for the eldest on the way back from class.  I'm going to see if I can try again next month to complete this the whole month through.  I'm also going to work toward getting out to exercise more.

As always, my pictures have been the easy part.  I've taken not just selfies, but pictures of other things as well.  But it's my selfies that I'm going to want to look at over the year and see how I've changed.  Nothing terribly exciting this week, but I'm happy to share them anyway.

Resting in bed, almost having
forgotten to take the picture

Ready to sleep in my coffee
pajamas!

Bright day, but I look a bit
washed out

One of my few pics with glasses
this week, ready to game

Another later night, but I've got
smiles

I have several Dr Pepper shirts...

Welcome to my 101 in 1,001!

Hello all!  Welcome to my journey for my 101 and 1,001.  I'm going to use this space to write about the various goals and how I reached them, adding the various lists that I want to make, and the pictures I hope to take.  It will probably be a slow start, but I hope you'll stick around for the journey and help encourage me along the way!

Goal Completed: Do a Try My Best at Sunday Assembly

Sunday Assembly  had to be rescheduled from the 12th to the 19th thanks to the snow we'd gotten that weekend.  So I had to wait another week before I could put my worries of screwing up behind me.  It was a fairly big month for me.  Not only was I doing Trying My Best, but I was singing with the band.  Most of my singing was harmony for the songs others sang lead on ("Help", "Deeper Well", "Lovely Day", "Afterlife"), but I did get to sing lead on "Shake It Off".  I practiced quite a bit Sunday morning, hoping that I'd knock it out of the park.  I also made sure to practice my TMB as well. Set up and practice for Assembly started at 2:45.  It was the first time I'd helped with set up, but it wasn't too bad to go through.  I helped with a lot of the audio set up, then got a chance to practice with the band a couple of times.  I had to keep reminding myself that I don't need perfection, but to just try to do my best.  ...

Completed Task: Watch Stranger Things

Why did I wait so long to watch this?! I'm an 80s kid through and through.  I wasn't as much of a geek in the 80s (it was tough being one in my small town, especially when no one was able to introduce me to things), but I'm definitely one now.  And between my nostalgia for the time period and my knowledge of things now, it hits my sweet spot.   As a general rule, I don't care for horror.  And this show definitely has it's share of horror.  But for all that the psychological and visual horror was there, it didn't bother me nearly as much as it usually did.  I think it's because I was able to focus on the nostalgia and the story rather than the horrific aspects.   And the story was incredibly engaging.  In season one, finding out what happened to Will and what we could find out about Eleven kept me continuing to go on to the next episode.  The relationship between the kids had me invested.  The familial relationships felt r...
